Snapdragon "Twinny Bronze"

Snapdragons are a delight, with their showy, butterfly-attracting flowers and their low-maintenance requirements. Most are grown as annuals since they tend to die back after heavy frost, but they can also be grown as short-lived perennials in warmer areas.

"Twinny" is a new double-flowered F1 hybrid dwarf variety of snapdragons. It does best in pots and large containers and is tolerant to both hot and wet weather conditions. Twinny Peach is an All-America Selections Winner. All-America Selections is an independent non-profit organization that tests new, never-before-sold varieties for the home gardener. After a full season of anonymous trialing by volunteer horticulture professionals, only the top garden performers are given the AAS Winner Award designation for their superior performance.

The large and gorgeous, double butterfly-type flowers of Twinny Bronze snapdragons are colored in unique blends of orange and peachy pink. They are exceptional cut flowers. Growing to 12 in. tall plants are exceptionally weather tolerant - will stand up beautifully to both heat and rain. In containers, color bowls, raised beds, or the landscape Twinny Bronze snapdragon is a top performer. An All-America Selections Winner.

You can either direct seed your snapdragon seeds in the fall, later spring, or early summer, or you can sow them in a greenhouse in seed cells 8-10 weeks before planting out. Cover seeds with a thin layer of vermiculite to retain moisture and hold seeds in place.

Bottom water or mist lightly to avoid moving the seeds. 3-5 weeks at 55-65°F (13-18°C) in full light are ideal conditions for seedling development. Harden off seedlings and transplant outdoors.

Harvest your snaps when pollen is visible on the flowers. Hang to dry.
