Native to the Mediterranean, Coronaria anemones, or poppy anemones (sometimes called windflowers) naturalize easily and make a stunning view when planted en masse in the garden border or container.
This listing is for the sale of corms, not flowers, which are like little bulbs in that all the energy of the plant is stored in one compact place.
🇫🇷 The "Carmel" anemone series is a genetic advancement from the French "Galilée" anemone series with bigger flowers and stronger stems. It is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring and provides weeks of cut flowers. Each corm can produce 15-20 flowers!
Anemone "Carmel Vin" in French, commonly called "Carmel Bordeaux" in English has velvety burgundy colored flowers, combining shades of chocolaty-maroon with purple-wine colored centers.

In milder USDA zones (generally 7 to 10), plant your anemones in October or November for early spring blooms. In colder climates (generally zones 6-2), plant corms in the late winter or early spring, after the threat of frost has passed. Corms can handle a brief, light frost, but will not survive temperatures below freezing.
During cold stretches, when temps dip below freezing, cover the plants with a thick layer of mulch and a cloche to protect against winter weather. Avoid excessively wet conditions when dormant.
Fall-planted corms bloom for about 8-10 weeks in the early spring, whereas spring-planted corms will blossom for about 6 weeks beginning in mid-spring. Blooms arrive generally 90 days after planting.
Choose a spot where they can be left undisturbed so they can naturalize and spread.
Pre-soak the tubers overnight in cool water before planting (it doesn't matter which way up) 6 cm deep and 12 cm apart. Plant around 75 corms per square meter. Feed (fertilize) every couple of weeks with liquid seaweed during the growing season.
