Dahlias are among the easiest plants to grow in the garden!

With this order, you will receive one tuber, ready to plant in the ground immediately. Tubers are the easiest way to grow Dahlias. Tubers are mature, bare-root plants that can be planted directly into the ground when the soil warms up a little from mid-April. Dahlia plants are half-hardy, so it's important to keep them protected from frosts.

Dahlia Belle of Barmera is a true showstopper with its raspberry-pink flowers with coral pink centers. This stunning color-changing dahlia goes from terracotta pink to coral to deep raspberry as it matures. A great alternative to the Cafe Au Lait family.

CARE
Pot up undercover in spring, place somewhere light and frost-free and keep moist. Pinch out growing tips at 20cm and plant out after last frosts.

Alternatively, you can plant them directly in the ground when the frosts are nearly over.

Dahlias tubers can be stored in the refrigerator until planting time or get a head start on spring and start them indoors in a sunny window.
The dormant tubers are planted out in the spring, from February to end of May.

Dahlias like to be watered when it is hot, their roots kept in the shade and their heads in the sun.

Dead-head on a regular basis to promote new blooms. Stake with a stout stick, tie in every couple of weeks.

Pruning: Remove spent flower heads to encourage more blooms and maintain a neat appearance.
Feed (fertilize) and water regularly during the growing season. Always water at the base of each plant, to avoid wetting the foliage.

In the south, you can mulch deeply and overwinter them in the ground, alternatively, lift and overwinter your dahlias frost-free undercover.
